The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies is now accepting applications from graduate students to become Associate Instructors for Spanish-language discussion sections in three courses:
COLL-C 103: Transnational Hispanic Cinemas (Fall 2019)
INTL-I 302: Global Healing (Fall 2019)
INTL-I 302: Women's Rights and Health (Spring 2020)
The positions are part of CLACS's new Languages across the Curriculum program in which discussion sections are conducted in languages other than English. For all three sections, AI's will attend lectures twice per week; conduct their discussion section in Spanish; grade assignments written in Spanish by students; and select materials (short newspaper articles, movie clips, etc.) in Spanish that will be posted on Canvas and integrated into the section.Applicants should submit the following:
- Cover letter indicating the course desired, qualifications (disciplinary, if applicable, and pedagogical), and approach to teaching.
- One letter of recommendation from a faculty member (preferably one who has observed the candidate teaching other classes)
Compensation for the position is $4,000.

There will be a mandatory two-hour training session for all AIs in early August, before the start of classes.
