The Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) invites student submissions for its Annual Undergraduate Student Essay Contest. Participants should produce original essays that highlight study abroad experiences in Latin America or the Caribbean.
CLACS Undergraduate Student Essay Contest
Award
1st Prize: $200 and publication in the CLACS Enfoque newsletter
2nd Prize: $100
Essays will be judged by CLACS faculty and staff. The winners of first prize and second prize will be announced on October 16, 2018 at the annual CLACS Undergraduate Showcase, from 8am-4pm. Location GISB Atrium.
Eligibility
Must be a current undergraduate student at Indiana University.
Note: By submitting an entry, participants agree that essays can be published by CLACS on the web and/or in print.
Submissions must be about experiences (minimum duration of four weeks) that took place in Latin America or the Caribbean during 2017-2018. Essays should be a well-written original work (in English, Spanish, or Portuguese) that discusses the ways in which experiences in the region helped the author change perspectives on the peoples and cultures of the country (or countries) visited. Essays must be between 500-1,000 words.
